How to Use

See a flag and pick the country from four options. The quiz covers 194 countries, and you can narrow it by continent or difficulty and play 5 to 30 questions.
1

Under 'Game Mode', choose 'All Flags', 'By Continent' or 'By Difficulty'.

2

Pick a continent or level, then the 'Number of Questions'. You can't choose more questions than there are countries in that pool.

3

Press 'Start Game' and choose the country that matches the flag. The next flag appears 1.5 seconds after you answer.

4

After the last question you'll see your score and accuracy. Flags you got wrong are listed under 'Flags you missed' with the answer you picked, and 'Retry Missed Flags' replays just those.

Pro Tips

  • New to flags? Start with 'Easy' under 'By Difficulty': 20 well-known countries.
  • Some flags are near twins: Indonesia and Monaco, Chad and Romania, or Ireland and Ivory Coast with the same colors in reverse. Learn those pairs on purpose.
  • On a computer, keys 1–4 or A–D pick an answer, which is quicker than the mouse.
  • Once you know a few, use the Random Country Picker to quiz each other.

Use Cases

Common ways to use the flag quiz:

Geography class

Quiz only the continent you're studying.

Example: For a unit on Africa, choose 'By Continent', then Africa (54 countries), and set 10 questions as a warm-up.

Before the Olympics or the World Cup

Learn the flags you'll see on screen.

Example: Start with Easy and Medium, 74 better-known countries between them, before moving on to Hard.

Family competitions

Same settings, take turns, compare scores.

Example: Questions are shuffled every game, so nobody can memorize the order.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many countries are included?

194: Africa 54, Europe 46, Asia 45, the Americas 35 and Oceania 14. By difficulty it's Easy 20, Medium 54 and Hard 120.

Can the same country come up twice in one game?

No. The quiz shuffles the pool and draws as many questions as you chose, so there are no repeats within a game.

Is my progress saved?

Games played, overall accuracy, best streak and perfect games are stored in this browser. They don't carry over to other devices or browsers.

The flags show up as two letters, like 'FR'.

Chrome and Edge on Windows can't draw flag emoji on their own, so the quiz loads a small flag font for them automatically. If you still see letters, reload the page.

Why Use This Tool?
