Memo Pad
Create, save, and manage multiple memos with browser storage
How to Use
Enter a descriptive title for your memo in the 'Memo Title' field to help you quickly identify it later. Titles are optional but highly recommended for organization - if left blank, the memo will be automatically named 'Untitled Memo' for easy reference.
Write your memo content in the large text area below the title. The text area automatically expands to accommodate longer content and supports any type of text including lists, paragraphs, code snippets, links, and formatted information that you want to preserve.
Click the 'Save Memo' button to store your memo in the browser's local storage. Your memo is saved instantly and appears in the 'Saved Memos' list below, where it remains accessible even after closing your browser or restarting your computer.
View all your saved memos in the list below the editor, organized chronologically with the newest memos appearing first. Each memo displays its title, a preview of the content (first two lines), and the last update timestamp for easy reference.
Edit any existing memo by clicking the 'Edit' button on the memo card. This loads the memo's title and content back into the editor at the top, where you can make changes and click 'Update Memo' to save your modifications.
Delete memos you no longer need by clicking the trash icon button on each memo card. Deletion is instant and permanent, so make sure you want to remove the memo before confirming this action.
Cancel editing mode at any time by clicking the 'Cancel' button, which clears the editor and returns it to the 'Create New Memo' state without affecting your saved memos.
Your memos are automatically organized by update time, so recently modified memos always appear at the top of the list, making it easy to find your most current and relevant notes quickly.
Pro Tips
- Use descriptive, specific titles for your memos to make them easy to find later. Instead of 'Note', use titles like 'Meeting Notes - Jan 15' or 'Shopping List - Weekend' for better organization.
- The memo content area supports unlimited text length, so feel free to write detailed notes, paste long articles for reference, or store extensive information without worrying about character limits.
- Take advantage of the timestamp feature - each memo shows when it was last updated, helping you track chronological information and understand the context of your notes.
- Create memos for different purposes: daily to-do lists, project ideas, important links, code snippets, meeting notes, creative writing drafts, or any information you want to access quickly.
- Since all memos are stored in your browser's local storage, they remain completely private on your device. No data is sent to any server, ensuring your notes are secure and confidential.
- Remember that browser local storage is device-specific, so memos saved on one device or browser won't appear on another. If you need to sync across devices, manually copy the content to other devices.
- Regularly review and clean up old memos to keep your list organized and relevant. Delete completed tasks, outdated information, or notes that are no longer needed.
- Use the memo pad for temporary information storage while browsing - save interesting quotes, article highlights, research notes, or any information you want to preserve from web pages.
- The edit feature makes it easy to maintain living documents - create a memo and update it regularly with new information, turning it into an evolving reference document or project tracker.

Frequently Asked Questions
Where are my memos stored and how secure are they?
All memos are stored exclusively in your browser's local storage on your device. No data is transmitted to any server or stored in the cloud. This means your memos are completely private and secure, accessible only on the specific browser and device where you created them. However, this also means memos won't sync across different devices or browsers.
Will my memos be deleted if I clear my browser data?
Yes, memos are stored in browser local storage, which is cleared when you clear your browsing data or cookies. If you have important memos, consider copying them to a permanent storage location before clearing browser data. The memos remain safe through normal browser sessions, updates, and computer restarts.
Is there a limit to how many memos I can create?
The number of memos you can create is limited only by your browser's local storage capacity, which is typically 5-10MB. This is sufficient for hundreds or even thousands of text-based memos. If you reach storage limits, you may need to delete old memos to make room for new ones.
Can I format my memo text with bold, italics, or other styling?
The current version stores plain text without formatting. However, you can use text-based formatting conventions like Markdown syntax (e.g., **bold**, *italic*) or organize content with dashes, numbers, and spacing. The text is preserved exactly as you type it, including line breaks and spacing.
How can I backup my memos or transfer them to another device?
Since memos are stored locally, the best way to backup or transfer them is to manually copy the content from each memo and paste it into a document or another storage location. For regular backups of important information, consider periodically copying your memo content to cloud storage or a text file.
Can I export all my memos at once?
The current version doesn't include a bulk export feature. To save all memos, you'll need to open each one in edit mode and copy the content manually. For critical information, maintain regular manual backups by copying important memos to secure storage locations.
What happens to the timestamp when I edit a memo?
Each time you update and save a memo, the timestamp is automatically updated to reflect the current date and time. This helps you track when information was last modified, making it easy to identify your most recent notes and understand the chronology of your thoughts and tasks.
Can I recover a deleted memo?
No, deletion is permanent and immediate. Once you click the delete button, the memo is removed from local storage and cannot be recovered. Always double-check before deleting memos, especially those containing important information.
Does the memo pad work offline?
Yes! Once you load the page, the memo pad works completely offline. You can create, edit, and delete memos without an internet connection. All functionality is available offline since everything is stored and processed locally in your browser.
