How to Use

Play rock paper scissors against the computer, one round at a time or as a best-of-3 or best-of-5 match. Your wins, losses, draws, win rate and best streak are saved in your browser.

Under 'Game mode', choose 'Single round', 'Best of 3' or 'Best of 5'.

Press 'Rock', 'Paper' or 'Scissors'. After about 1.5 seconds the computer's move appears along with 'You Win!', 'You Lose!' or 'It's a Draw!'.

In a match, the scoreboard counts your round wins and the computer's. Draws don't count, and the first to 2 wins (3 in a best of 5) takes the match. 'New Match' starts again from 0–0.

'Statistics' shows your totals, win rate, best streak and match record. 'Game History' lists the last 10 rounds.

The trash icon next to the statistics clears everything, including the saved totals.

Pro Tips

The computer doesn't look at your earlier moves. Each round it picks rock, paper or scissors with equal chance, so pattern-reading tricks that work on people don't help here.
Win rate includes draws in the total, so over many rounds it settles near 33%, not 50%.
Switching the game mode in the middle of a match resets its score to 0–0.
To settle something between two people, a Coin Flip is quicker.

Use Cases

Typical ways people play against the computer:

Best-of-three forfeits

For when one round feels too random to settle a dare or a snack run.

Example: Pick Best of 3 and take turns playing the computer. Whoever loses their match takes the forfeit, so a single unlucky round matters less.

Streak challenge

See who can build the longest winning streak.

Example: Each win is a 1-in-3 chance, so five in a row happens about once in 243 tries (0.4%). The best streak is saved, so you can keep chasing it over several days.

Teaching kids the rules

Practice what beats what.

Example: Every round shows your move, the computer's move and the outcome side by side, which makes the rules easy to repeat.

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the computer see my choice first?

No. Its move is random and doesn't depend on yours. The 1.5-second pause is only there for suspense.

What happens to draws in a best-of-3 match?

A drawn round is replayed and doesn't change the match score, so a best of 3 can take more than three rounds. Draws still count in the statistics.

I keep losing. Is it rigged?

Losing three or four rounds in a row is common when each round is a one-in-three chance. Over more rounds, wins and losses even out.

Are my stats saved?

Yes. Wins, losses, draws, best streak and match record are saved in this browser and are still there when you come back. The 'Game History' list and a match in progress are lost on refresh, and the trash icon deletes the saved totals too.
